Possessive Pronouns in Japanese

Know more about Japanese possessive pronouns!

In previous articles we discovered how the personal pronouns are written in Japanese. Today, we are going to understand how possessive pronouns are formed in Japanese.

Possessive Pronouns in Japanese

To form the possessive pronouns, we will need the personal pronouns and the particle . This particle indicates possession, relationship or origin, but in our case, we will only work with the sense of possession. Note the pronouns below:

私の - mine
僕の - mine
あなたの - your
彼の - his
彼女 - hers
私たちの - our
あなたたちの - yours, of you
彼らの - their
彼女たちの - from them

As you can see above, to form possessive pronouns in Japanese, just add the particle  after the personal pronoun. Pretty easy isn't it?

To better fix the use of these pronouns, I will leave some examples.

彼の本です。

彼女の車です。
