In previous articles, about&nbsp;<a title=\"fundamental japanese grammar\" href=\"https:\/\/comoaprenderjapones.net\/en\/fundamental-japanese-grammar\/\">the fundamental Japanese grammar<\/a>, I talked a little about how to use the particle&nbsp;<acronym title=\"ka\">\u304b<\/acronym>to ask questions in Japanese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to ask questions in Japanese<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of that, I thought it would be interesting to write about the subject again, showing how to ask questions in Japanese more comprehensively and from a new perspective, broadening the word horizons for those who already know a little about this subject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nani, itsu, doko and dare \u2013 What, when, where and who<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#039;s start by using&nbsp;<acronym title=\"nani or nan | which\">\u4f55<\/acronym>, which can be used to ask questions in Japanese about all kinds of things and subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ask questions in Japanese using&nbsp;<acronym title=\"nani or nan | which\">\u4f55<\/acronym>, just replace the direct object of the sentence with&nbsp;<acronym title=\"nani or nan | which\">\u4f55<\/acronym>&nbsp;and add the particle&nbsp;<acronym title=\"ka\">\u304b<\/acronym>&nbsp;at the end of the sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><acronym title=\"nan desu ka? | which is?\">\u4f55\u3067\u3059\u304b\u3002<\/acronym><br \/>Nan desu ka? (This is cheese.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Realize that the pronunciation of&nbsp;<acronym title=\"nani or nan | which\">\u4f55<\/acronym>&nbsp;changes according to her position in the sentence. (Mr. Honda drank the beer.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ikura and dorekurai \u2013 How much in Japanese<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As far as I know, there are many variations of expressions for asking questions in Japanese using \u201chow much\u201d and \u201chow much more\u201d. The two most basic expressions are&nbsp;<acronym title=\"ikura | how much.\">\u3044\u304f\u3089<\/acronym>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<acronym title=\"dorekurai | How many is it missing\">\u3069\u308c\u304f\u3089\u3044<\/acronym>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Generally&nbsp;<acronym title=\"ikura | how much.\">\u3044\u304f\u3089<\/acronym>&nbsp;is related to the amount of money, while&nbsp;<acronym title=\"dorekurai | How many is it missing\">\u3069\u308c\u304f\u3089\u3044<\/acronym>&nbsp;it is related to distances, widths, dimensions and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><acronym title=\"kono hon wa ikura desu ka? | How much does this book cost?\">\u3053\u306e\u672c\u306f\u3044\u304f\u3089\u3067\u3059\u304b\u3002<\/acronym><br \/>kono hon wa ikura desu ka? (How much does this book cost?)<br \/><acronym title=\"kono hon wa nihyaku en desu. | This book costs two hundred yen.\">\u3053\u306e\u672c\u306f\uff12\uff10\uff10\u5186\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/acronym><br \/>kono hon wa nihyaku en desu. (This book costs two hundred yen.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><acronym title=\"Toukyu wa dorekurai desu ka? How far to Tokyo?\">\u6771\u4eac\u306f\u3069\u308c\u304f\u3089\u3044\u3067\u3059\u304b\u3002<\/acronym><br \/>Toukyu wa dorekurai desu ka? (How far to Tokyo?)<br \/><acronym title=\"nan kiro motooi desu. | A few kilometers.\">\u4f55\u30ad\u30ed\u3082\u9060\u3044\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/acronym><br \/>nan kiro motooi desu. (A few kilometers.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another way to ask questions in Japanese regarding quantities is to use counters. I&#039;ve already written about some of them in previous articles. If you want to review or get to know the counters, I suggest you read the article \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/comoaprenderjapones.net\/en\/accountants-to-count-in-japanese\/\">Counters to count in Japanese<\/a>\u201c.<br \/><br \/><strong>Examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><acronym title=\"hon wo nansatsu kaimasu ka? | How many books will you buy?\">\u672c\u3092\u4f55\u518a\u8cb7\u3044\u307e\u3059\u304b\uff1f<\/acronym><br \/>Hon wo nansatsu kaimasu ka? (How many books will you buy?)<br \/><acronym title=\"yonsatsu desu. | Four books.\">\u56db\u518a\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/acronym><br \/>Yonsatsu desu. (Four books.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><acronym title=\"conpyuuta o nandai motte iru? | How many computers do you have?\">\u30b3\u30f3\u30d4\u30e5\u30fc\u30bf\u3092\u4f55\u53f0\u6301\u3063\u3066\u3044\u308b\uff1f<\/acronym><br \/>Conpyuuta o nandai motte iru? (How many computers do you have?)<br \/><acronym title=\"sandai desu | Three.\">\u4e09\u53f0\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/acronym><br \/>Sandai desu (Three.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An interesting thing is that when we don&#039;t know the correct counter for something, we can use&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/comoaprenderjapones.net\/en\/accountants-to-count-in-japanese\/\">the generalist accountant in Japanese<\/a>. In this case,&nbsp;<acronym title=\"ikura | how much.\">\u3044\u304f\u3089<\/acronym>&nbsp;will come&nbsp;<acronym title=\"ikutsu | how much.\">\u3044\u304f\u3064<\/acronym>, receiving the extension of the generalist accountant and making it possible to ask questions in Japanese for many different things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><acronym title=\"kaki o ikutsu tabemasuka? | How many persimmons will you eat?\">\u67ff\u3092\u3044\u304f\u3064\u98df\u3079\u307e\u3059\u304b\uff1f<\/acronym><br \/>kaki o ikutsu tabemasuka? (How many persimmons will you eat?)<br \/><acronym title=\"mitsu desu | three.\">\u4e09\u3064\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/acronym><br \/>mitsu desu (three.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Doushite \u2013 because in Japanese<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To know the reason for something in Japanese, we use the word&nbsp;<acronym title=\"doushite | why\">\u3069\u3046\u3057\u3066<\/acronym>. The most common way to answer Japanese questions asked with&nbsp;<acronym title=\"doushite | why\">\u3069\u3046\u3057\u3066<\/acronym>&nbsp;is adding&nbsp;<acronym title=\"kara | why\">\u304b\u3089<\/acronym>&nbsp;at the end of the answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So to answer a question asked with&nbsp;<acronym title=\"doushite | why\">\u3069\u3046\u3057\u3066<\/acronym>, just create the answer phrase and add&nbsp;<acronym title=\"kara | why\">\u304b\u3089<\/acronym>&nbsp;at the end of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><acronym title=\"doushite nihon ni ikimasu ka? | Why are you going to Japan?\">\u3069\u3046\u3057\u3066\u65e5\u672c\u306b\u884c\u304d\u307e\u3059\u304b\uff1f<\/acronym><br \/>Doushite nihon ni ikimasu ka?
