Basic Japanese Vocabulary for Beginners
Many more advanced students can skip this phase without any problem, as long as they already know most of the expressions below.

はい – Sim
いいえ – Não
おはよう – Bom dia
おはようございます – Bom dia (mais formal)
こんにちは – Olá ou Boa tarde
こんばんは – Boa noite
お休みなさい – Boa noite
お休みなさい it is mostly used when we are going to sleep or rest. It's a nice way to say goodbye.
An interesting thing about the greetings above, is that each of them has a specific time to be used.
おはよう – Geralmente é usado entre o início do dia e as 11:00 da manhã.
こんにちは – Quando tem sentido de “Boa tarde”, é usado das 11:00 até as 06:00 da noite.
こんばんは – Geralmente é usado das 06:00 da noite até o início do outro dia.
どうも – Obrigado.
ありがとう – Obrigado
どうもありがとう – Muito obrigado
どうもありがとうございます – Muito obrigado
The four words above are used for the same purpose, but in very different situations. Depending on the level of formality of the conversation, certain words are preferred.
どうも – Uma forma extremamente informal. Use somente entre amigos.
ありがとう – Uma modo informal, mas de uso geral.
どうもありがとう – Um modo formal e de uso geral.
どうもありがとうございます – Essa palavra da ênfase no agradecimento e na formalidade.
お願いします– Por favor.
すみません – Sinto muito, me desculpe
ごめんなさい– Sinto muito, me desculpe
お元気ですか？ – Como vai? Ou Como você está?
はい、元気です。おかげさまで。 – Sim, estou bem. Obrigado por perguntar.
はじめまして – Muito prazer, Encantado em lhe conhecer, ou Como vai.
私の名前はパウロです。– Meu nome é paulo.
The expression 私の名前はパウロです。 is usually used as a sentence pattern to say your name in Japanese. It consists of three parts:
私の名前は – Meu nome
パウロ – O nome próprio transcrito fonéticamente para katakana.
です – Um auxiliar de formalidade que pode ser traduzido como o nosso verbo ser ou estar.
To say your name in Japanese, just transcribe it in katakana and replace the highlighted word with your name transcribed in katakana.
私の名前はパウロです。
よろしくお願いします – O prazer em conhece-lo ou Encantado em lhe conhecer.
あなたの名前は何ですか？ – Qual é o seu nome?
こちらこそ – O prazer é todo meu ou Fico feliz em lhe conhecer também.
どういたしまして – De nada ou disponha.
いらっしゃいませ – Bem vindo.
やった！ – Isso! Eu consegui!
おめでとうございます。 – Parabéns!
